Advent – Day 3

Dec 03 in Advent

Yesterday we spoke of those soldiers in WWI who weren’t able to go home for Christmas and how God made a way to meet with them, giving them something far more profound they would never forget.  Likewise this Christmas there are soldiers who are in war-torn countries who won’t make it home and will feel the loss of loved ones.

There are many Christians who are also in a sense, soldiers, locked in a spiritual battle, losing their homes, suffering for their faith, having to live one day at a time not really knowing what the future holds or the full cost. Let’s take a few moments in our day to remember them, asking the Lord to give them strength at this time, comfort, direction and intervene on their behalf.

“He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day … A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, your refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you … For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.”

There are other ways we can help, a letter to encourage someone and let them know that they are not alone and that there are those who are praying for them is a wonderful way of sharing God’s love.

There are ways we can support our soldiers overseas and also persecuted Christians, an escalating problem in the world which unfortunately is not being covered sufficiently by the media.
