Proverbs 31- Part 1

Sep 08 in Proverbs

Proverbs 31 comes in two parts. First is the advice of a woman to her son. What a blessing a godly mother can be. Her first warning to be careful abut women, women can destroy kings. God gave the kings of Israel clear instructions as to what they should avoid: 1- not multiply horses to himself (they used horses for battle, your glory is not on your show to others nor in numbers but on WHO you place your trust in) 2- not multiply wives for himself (so many men have been trapped due to adultery or fornication) 3- not multiply silver and gold for himself (you usually find that those obsessed by possessing things are not the ones to enjoy them, they are also never satisfied and lose sight about what is important in life… many end up having to compromise their values to keep to the standard they set for themselves… don’t let the love of money be your drive). His mother also warns against the dangers of drink. Wine brings ridicule and will only make or do something you will later regret. Usually leads to quarrels, it hangs around the wrong company and leads you astray. Is not for the wise.
