Elijah prophesied that it would rain after years of drought. We read in 1 Kings 18 how he went up the mountain and began to pray for the fulfilment of God’s Word. He sent his servant out to check for rain but each time he came back reporting that he saw nothing. Elijah persevered until finally, the 7th time a small cloud appeared on the horizon the size of his hand. Laying hold of God’s promise he laboured in prayer until he saw its manifestation. ‘In a little while the sky grew black with clouds and there was a heavy shower.’
Learning to press on until the heavenly breaks forth and is birthed upon the earth. So easy to give up when we don’t see things happening to our time scale or happening in the order or way we expect. I love those bracelets that say PUSH, ‘Pray until something happens’ it can be just like labour, you endure for it is so worth it in the end. We need to be Daniel’s who persevere, press in and labour in prayer until the fulfilment of His promises.
Look for that small cloud, that small ray of hope that says, it is coming and then thank Him for the full outworking of His will. We stand on His Word for it does not come back without accomplishing that for which it was sent out. Laying hold of His Word, of His promises. If you don’t have one, ask Him for one, seek Him in the hidden place. His promise :“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. ‘I will be found by you,’ declares the LORD…” Jeremiah 29:11-14a
